Is gentrification distorting neighborhoods?

      I would like to do my research project on gentrification and how it’s affecting people in the lower and middle class areas around New York City.gentrification is the process of renovating and improving a district, primarily urban areas so it fits the want and needs of the social class above them. This topic interests me mainly because my area is going through the changes of gentrification and it’s forcing people to lose their jobs and their homes. I feel there’s a way both parties can benefit from the improvements in neighborhoods if it’s brought upon a different way. There’s ways to better an area without destroying the lives of the people who live in that area and I want to present how this can be brought about.
