Music and dancing are some of the things
that give us life and entertainment. It's like
a universal language that we can use to communicate with each other or tell different
sorts of stories. They aid us to create
unique memories that can last up to a lifetime. For example, when I was a kid, I went to see
the Christmas Spectacular show at Midtown, Manhattan. It was my first time ever going to a show and
became one of the greatest memory of my life.
When I was around 9 years old, my aunt
took me to go see the famous Christmas Spectacular show featuring the Rockettes
at Radio City Music Hall. Once we
arrived there, the lines were so packed that
it reached at least two blocks up from the showcase entrance. However, we both managed to get inside and to
our seats before the show starts. The show
began when the lights directed towards the live orchestra, playing a mixture of
Christmas songs. After their
introduction, the curtain rises and the lights came on for the Rockettes, dress
up as sexy reindeers, and tap-dancing wonderfully
on stage. There were also different
scenes included in the show such as the Nutcracker
play, the toy soldiers, ice skaters, the dancing Santas, and the Nativity (the birth of Jesus Christ story).
Every scene in the show had brought a lot
of life in not only us, but also the audiences.
There was a lot of laughter and applauds. The show had be around for so many decades
that “From the moment they first appeared in 1925, the
Rockettes have been American icons…”(rockettes.com). They had come a long way being the main attraction,
from their sexy Christmas costumes, to their dance routines in which synchronize with the music and of course their famous
high kicks. Even today, they also have
another showcase that started “In June 2016, the Rockettes performed
on the Great Stage to celebrate New York City in The New York Spectacular…” (rockettes.com).
I hoped one day I get
to go back to see the show again. In
addition, I would probably see the new showcase, “The New York City”, they have
currently going on as well. I would love
to take my nieces, nephews and maybe one day, my own children to see the
Rockettes because it is one of the fondest memory to have as a kid.
