Don’t Suspend Students. Empathize.

In the article “Don’t Suspend Students. Empathize”, David L. Kirp writes about Jason Okonofua who is a psychology professor interested in increasing “empathy” between high school teachers and their students. He goes on to say that teachers can be helped to understand adolescents’ behavior through taking specific class about “empathic discipline”. This article shows that suspending students from class increase their bad behavior and kill their belief in teachers. Also, Okonofua states that suspending students make the other students become worry which can reduce their academic ability. Okonofua beliefs that teacher should create a closer relationship with their students, by being polite and showing that schools are impartial.
