                                                                  Millennial Voters

Young millennial voters age from 18 to 29. Voters in this age range vote at lower rates than older groups, decreasing their electoral power. A recent report from Pew Research center found that 23 percent of young Americans who identified as Republican or independent-leaning Republican, switched to identifying as Democrat or independent leaning Democrat from 2015 to 2017. (newyorktimes.com) As a young millennial, you never really focus on making it to the polls, or  contributing to an electoral vote, even though our votes make a difference. Young adults experience Democratic party infighting most of our lives, the point is actually focused on getting us to go vote period.

Young people are becoming more politically active. Voters 18 to 29 represent 10.6 percent of the electorate, up from 6 percent in 2014 midterms. (newyorktimes.com). Bernie Sanders connected with young millennials in the 2016 race as well as Hillary Clinton. There is still no connect with young millennials, that I know of to president Trump or the Republican party. We just cant relate, or maybe we are not interested until a decision affects home, than we realize that we need to get out and vote for a better leader.

In conclusion, If we want a better future, and a better leader, young millennials need to go out and vote. Our voice makes a difference and our opinions are strong.  Regardless of Republican or Democratic actually going to vote is what matters.
