How did the Great Migration changed New York?

The movement of rural African-Americans from the South to the manufacturing cities of the North in the early 20th century is a topic that caught my attention. As an immigrant myself I have my personal reasons that lead me to move to America/New York. I want to do research to see if I can relate my reasons of moving to New York and to the rural African Americans who moved from the South to the North.
