                                                             Long Love Orchestra

Music in New York City is diverse. There are many different genres to choose to listen to. One particular form of music, that I have just become interested in this year is, Orchestral music. A typical orchestra is made up of more than ninety musicians, who play together on a variety of instruments, which usually come from all instrument families brass, percussion, strings, and woodwinds. I am usually drawn to one popular artist such as Beyonce, or Kendrick Lamar, who are both top inspiring artist. This one particular night in New York City, which turned into many, I fell in love with the orchestra.
It was an evening in the city, and I was not feeling too well. I was walking down Lincoln Center Plaza, and decided to stop in Lincoln Center to see the schedules of they're upcoming events. One of the staff ladies said to me, "There is a free Orchestral performance tonight, you should come." Not feeling to well, I stayed and accepted the offer. The minute I stepped in Paul Recital Hall, which is a small theater in Lincoln Center, where the performance was held, my entire mood changed. Me feeling down turned into anxious. I was eager to see and hear what the Orchestra was going to play
Before I got to the center, I was feeling sad, and thinking negatively. I was mourning the loss of loved ones from years back and couldn't understand why.

As I entered the theater, I realized I was the first person in the theater, and was able to choose to sit wherever I wanted. I chose center stage, but not too close to the front, about 10 min later the theater started to fill. Everyone was settled, and the orchestra and conductors walked out and prepared for their performance. During these musical performances, it is complete silence, even a cough feels uncomfortable. Some of the works that were performed were Benjamin Britten (1913-1976), and Johannes Brahms (1833-1897), focusing on the classical and romantic eras of music. The conductors of these pieces, made it easier for me to connect with the music, and feel the energy they put into conducting. One piece in particular was Benjamin Brittens work based on "Rondeau" from Henry Purcell's incidental music. When Julliard lab orchestra played his work, it brought a sense of peace to my thoughts, and brought tears to my eyes for those who were important that I have lost in the past. Most importantly, my spirit became happier, and I was excited to spread the word of the peace and positivity that orchestras bring to your soul.

These performance changed my feelings and thoughts from negative to positive, just by sitting and listening to a certain melody. At times, during the performance I closed my eyes and let the music take me away in spirit. I always invite and tell my friends to go to orchestras, expressing how they make me feel. I've been to about five performances since than, and loved all of them. The way the conductors conducted the orchestra, and the works of these great composers, it gave me a forever spiritual and passionate connection with both the orchestra, and overall classical and romantic style music.
